Blakeney: MORE ADORABLE THAN YOU
Firstly, BWAHAHAHA OH TITLE. I personally would have preferred "Hot In Herre", but I'm not complaining.

I never thought I'd say this, but Guy is really starting to bore me. I mean, OBVIOUSLY I love everything that Rarrmitage chooses to be, and the hair is never less than gloriously inspiring, and he has always, always been pathetic, but now... I don't know, he just doesn't seem to have ANY layers now, whereas when Marian was around there was always the push/pull between him sort-of knowing she was playing him and him desperately not wanting to believe it. I miss that. But, meh, I'm fine with him and Toby putting their faces REALLY CLOSE TOGETHER and snarling.

I didn't have strong feelings either way about Bobbin/Isabella, other than thinking she was probably too awesome for his potato-shaped fail, but I don't really like the way it's been resolved. They were 'together' for how long? And she wanted how many kids? And now she hates him? OF COURSE, writers. She's female, and therefore has a boner for Robin. IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW. I'm also kind of sad that Show seems to be pushing Kate/Robin (although I'm not sure to what extent her feelings will be requited) and someone is going to get hurt, and it is probably going to be Much. *insert typical Sophie proclamation of Much!love and woe* ALSO, PLEASE GIVE THE REST OF THE OUTLAWS STORYLINES. THANK YOU.

Toby continues to pwn the universe, surprising no one. ALSO THERE WAS BLATANT, BLATANT CROTCH!ACTING THIS WEEK.

I've been devouring Naomi Novik's Temeraire series (I am very nearly finished with Victory of Eagles; expect a massively incoherently joyful post) and tinkering about over at [info]age_of_sail, and the whole giddy experience culminated in a BURNING DESIRE to submerge myself in Master & Commander. I haven't seen the film for a few years, and I've only read the first book in the series, but I remember loving them both rather a lot. JACK AND STEPHEN, THEY ARE MORE MARRIED THAN ANYONE EVER. And the DVD was on offer in HMV! My planets are aligned and all that jazz. We watched it last night and it was just as fantastic as I remembered, with the added bonus that being a few years older makes Max "grows up to be Octavian!" Pirkis EVEN MORE ADORABLE as Blakeney. It defies the intellect, how adorable this boy is. Look at his little faaaace! Also, yay Bryan Dick!

How are you? ♥

I AGREE SO HARD WITH YOUR SUBJECT LINE. SO MUCH SO I AM GOING TO WATCH THE MOVIE RIGHT NOW LATER TODAY.

Damn, I just want it to be two weeks from now so we can have a motherflippin' coronation. The only two reasons I'm still watching this damn show is cause all my irl friends are still watching it, and Toby obvs.

HE IS SO TINY AND FAIR-HAIRED AND ADORABLE AND WHEN HE TROTS ALL OVER THE GALAPAGOS HIS SLEEVE FLAPS IN THE WIND ♥

I knooooow. Stupid Eurovision. But! At least that's one more week before Toby LEAVES US FOREVER with a lame show and 5 episodes still to suffer through.

Sort of a fighting naturalist, like you, sir.
My mother and I die every time he says that. So tiny and precious! That boy needs more work.

I know, right? Okay, pfft, doing a degree, whatever (HE IS AN OLD ETONIAN, HOW PRECIOUS), but he's so awesome! I mean, adorable Blakeney and COLD AND AWESOME SNAKE EYES are pretty far apart on the ol' acting spectrum.

Oh goodness, I forgot to mention that The Merchant of Venice was on PBS at 11 last night, and I stayed up watching it again in honor of you. Damn, I forgot how ridiculously homoerotic that movie sorta is.

Hah, awesome. Mmm, Kris Marshall's throat. Mmm, Charlie Cox's sweet little face. Mmm, Jeremy Irons. ALSO TUCK IS TOTALLY A PRINCE IN THAT.

I like the bit where the dudes kiss, not gonna lie. BASSANIO, YOU TEASE.

WTF I THINK US THREE SHARE BRAINS.

I was thinking, like today, how I wanted to watch M&C again. Today.

THIS. I may be biased but IT IS NECESSARY.

I agree with everything you said 100% this week!
Bright Young Thing: [rh] damn right i love him[info]sophieisgod on May 10th, 2009 12:18 pm (UTC)
They've had NOTHING this season. Allan needs plot! Much needs hugs! John needs lines that are not "AHHHHH!" or "NOOOOO!" Tuck needs opportunities to display his bamfery!
Sarah[info]bishwop on May 10th, 2009 12:22 pm (UTC)
This week I was thinking that the Robin/Much BFFness has completely gone. It's like Much cares more about Kate now than he does about Robin! Albeit Kate has been in more sticky situations this season than Robin I think, but STILL.

The only thing I really appreciated this week was the recognition that Marian did ACTUALLY EXIST AT ONE POINT IN TIME.
Sarah[info]bishwop on May 10th, 2009 12:42 pm (UTC)
You know where we were at Episode 7 in Season 2? It was "Show Me The Money" with Edward dying and Guy finding his body and instantly going "...Marian." and Lucy crying exquisitely and thier misplaced and badly timed semi-kiss. And Allan blocking all the routes in and out of the castle I think. And I think it was the episode where Robin and Allan fight in the cellar about him telling them about Marian and Allan goes "I love you, Robin. All of you." and OH, S2 PLOTLINES, I MISS YOU SO MUCH. I just feel like Season 2 had loads of different story arcs that went over the whole season - Black Knights and plot to overthrow the king, Guy&Mazza'a love/hate, Allan's misplaced loyalties.....but Season 3 just feels disjointed to me. Like I can't really tell where they're going with it at all. Mope.
Bright Young Thing: [rh] a love that cannot be[info]sophieisgod on May 10th, 2009 08:22 pm (UTC)
WHY, SEASON 3? Why taunt us with such multi-arc plotty glory if you were only going to snatch it away?!

I would have expected the Prince John arc to come at the end of the series, if anything; I've got no idea what else they could have to top it.

they've been kidding with the Robin lovestory thing in this season too much.. I mean what about this Kate crush now? I thought it would have been a Much/Kate/Allan triangle.. why it has become a quadrangle?? °_°
blah...

OH MY GOD, OKAY, I WATCHED MASTER AND COMMANDER LAST NIGHT AS WELL. Possibly that didn't deserve capslock, but, you know, flaaail.

JACK/STEPHEN, godd, they are so married. And about ten minutes in, I said, hey, when was this film out? Because LOOK IT IS OCTAVIAN. jsbdjhs awesomesauce. Basically my Master and Commander experience involved adding 'in my pants' on the end of everyone's sentences (which was particularly juvenile-y amusing when someone said something like "he's an able seaman", shut up, I am clever) and doing a little flail every time Jack and Aubrey were gay together. THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS. SELF-SURGERY. HNNNNNNNGH. Er. Who is that talking nonsense, oh look, it is me.

Have you seen [info]johanirae's lovely lovely Master and Commander arts? You must.

On a Robin Hood related note: TOBY AND GUYYY WITH THEIR FACES ALL UP CLOSE TOGETHER, I approve. I too am finding many issues with the plot (er, Isabella, possibly you would like to stick to one emotion where Robin is concerned for more than, say, ten minutes, and could Kate please get tragically trampled by rampaging, out-of-place wildebeest in the woods or something) but I did really enjoy the massive four-way sword fight at the end, and, also, PRINCE JOHN AND ALSO GUY.

Well, this was a very contained, rational-sounding comment. I blame all the French revision. It has made me go mad. I am sorry that, er, this comment seems to be bearing the brunt of that insanity.
Bright Young Thing: [m&c] ship porn![info]sophieisgod on May 10th, 2009 08:58 pm (UTC)
THAT IS A MYSTICAL COSMIC COINCIDENCE, MY FRIEND. Awesomesauce and also flaaaail!

SO EFFING MARRIED. If you flailed every time they were gay together you must have sprained your flail. THEY MAKE SWEET GAY MUSIC TOGETHER AND JACK PLAYS HIS VIOLIN LIKE A UKELELE. It breaks my heart when it's all OOPS WE MUST LEAVE THE GALAPAGOS and Stephen is SO UPSET and then Jack shouts at him and Paul Bettany's freckles make me want to cryyyyy :'( He is so wee and adorable! And then he turned into Octavian! Insanity! I do love that crazy fucker, though. Ohh, Rome.

Swordfight orgy! Yes! It was very PotC, I agree. NOW IF ONLY JACK DAVENPORT WOULD GUEST ON HOOD, the rest of the season might not be completely appalling once Toby departs. NORRINGTON ♥
Ἄρτεμις: (telly) do you love me?[info]artemislives on May 10th, 2009 04:09 pm (UTC)
I think the Kate crush is actually kind of cute, ONLY if Robin doesn't return the sentiments. UGH ROBIN YOU ARE STARTING TO ANNOY ME (of course, this may well be due in part to the overwhelming and happily suffocating presence of PJ)

fact: toby stepehns is a crotch!actor *stephens!!!

Best tag ever? Yessum.

Ironically, I was liking Guy better in these two PJ episodes than before; he has a different dynamic with PJ that I quite like. AND CLEARLY HE SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY ONE STILL THINKING ABOUT MARIAN. But yes, if it means more blatant PJ/Guy, I have no complaints.

Isabella really is too awesome for Robin. I never liked the fact that they actually got together; the show should have left it at seething animosity because of her brother and all associations and such, and left it with underlying brimming unresolved sexual tension- because you know how much I love that ;)

I think I might give up the show after Toby my love leaves :( He has raised expectations unreasonably, and I simply can't come to expect that level of win after he is gone. Speaking of which, I wonder how the characters GETS gone...

JESUS H. CHRIST DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I ADORE M&C?! DO YOU KNOW?? Morgan can tell you. I am OBSESSEDOBSESSEDOBSESSED.This is so concidence-like and freaky because I was just thinking about how I wanted to watch the movie again. I've seen it at least 45 times and the film just gets better and better for me each time I watch it. OBSESSED. Jack and Stephen are so fucking married. Fucking and married.

You are through with the Temeraire series! That was so fast! I need to catch up! I've only read the first book

I've missed you Sophie!! How have you been? ♥

OH YAYYYYYY IT'S YOOOOOU ♥ ♥

45 times is a large amount of times, you crazy chickadee! SO MARRIED. MARRIED AND HAVING SEX AND PLAYING STRINGED INSTRUMENTS. And the fandom is delightful! I've found some really nice fic.

Very very nearly finished! I may cry. In fact, I probably will because NO MORE NEW BOOKS FOR MONTHS :/ It's knocked me into such and Age of Sail mood; M&C and Persuasion (HINDS > PENRY-JONES, IT'S JUST A FACT) and even PotC...

I'm not too bad, just having a MASSIVE ESSAY CRISIS and trying not to fail my degree at the last minute XD You?
Sarah: shakespeare in love 2[info]auroralives on May 11th, 2009 01:33 am (UTC)
Oooooh, you've found good fic?! Link me pretty please?

Awww! But Novik's writing another one! AND THE M&C BOOKS ARE FANTASTIC, BTW. If you're looking for more Age-of-Sail books. And there are 20 of them! I've read the first five and they are FAB.

Arrrgh, I still need to see both Persuasion adaptations + read the book. Add another thing to my Austen List of Shame.

You will prevail! And will not fail! Much love and good good luck with finishing your essay. ♥♥♥

Ahahaha the preview for next week amused me muchly. All PJ's flouncing. He has won me over, I do believe!

Agh, I just feel like the whole Kate thing is getting mishandled. Like, there should be a chief writer overlooking it and checking for continuity of that sort between scripts, but clearly that passed by the wayside? I like Kate, and I think she has the potential to do interesting things, but the plotlines (especially the romantic ones) are getting a bit garbled. Don't get me wrong, I am still fond of my show, and inclined to forgive things, but...I guess I notice romantic plotlines particularly, and Kate just seems to be crushing all over the place. And getting in peril when she's not crushing. Which...yeah. :(

There was some Much/Robin this week though! Robin confided in him, and nice things were said? IIRC. Which was nice continuity I thought? As were the reminisces about Marian, even if Robin was a trifle delusional in saying she'd never given Guy a reason to think she liked her. I wonder if the Marian reminisces are leading up to something?
